I’ll be honest, it’s been about 6 years since my last visit to Disneyland. Though I live relatively close compared to some people, it’s just not a place that is generally on my radar. As a child, I would visit 1-2 times per year, but now…well it’s been a while like I said. While recently roaming Facebook and Instagram, I saw a variety of Christmas Disneyland posts popping up. I had forgotten all about the gorgeous and festive decorations for the seasons. So of course, me being G had to go! (You know how I feel about all things festive). Day trip to Disneyland from San Diego, CA
We left at 8am (a little early for some people) to avoid traffic and have an early start to the morning. By the time we got there it looked like everyone and their strollers had the same idea. But before I could even think of waiting in hours of lines, I had to have my morning coffee. In Downtown Disney we discovered the La Brea Bakery– a place having some of the best coffee I’ve ever had and that means something.
I had a latte with a slice of lemon pound cake. While I’m usually not into the extra sugar, high calorie items, I figured something had to get me through an entire day of walking!
After having our breakfasty snacks we were ready for the park. When I used to come to Disneyland as a child with my dad, the first thing we would do was study the map and make a plan. I had no idea how much work it was until I was sitting there trying to figure out what route was most time efficient.
I’ll admit that we kind of ended up roaming for a while before actually have a legitimate plan. All I knew was that I simply had to go on the teacup ride (it’s one of my favs).
The reason I love this ride so much is that it’s appropriate for all ages. Adults and kids can equally enjoy it. When it was finally our turn I made a beeline for the empty orange teacup (it’s my favorite color). What shocked me was how hard it was to spin the teacup! I was hardcore struggling.
After this ride, we determined where exactly we wanted to go and how we could efficiently manage everything. On our list? Space Mountain, Autotopia, Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, and it’s a Small World. I’m a little sad to say we didn’t get to “It’s a Small World” because the lines were just too long and I couldn’t handle the idea of waiting for 90 minutes. We did however have lunch in the New Orleans Square (one of my favorite areas of the park after Fantasyland.
At around 7 pm we were so exhausted. I could totally relate to all the little kids dragging their feet around the park ready to go home. I was SO ready to go home and sleep. As we were walking out, the parade started, and of course we had to watch at least a little bit!
By the time I got home at 9, all I could do was fall on my bed and head to sleep. Who knew I’d wake up sore the next morning from all the walking!
Have you been to Disneyland? What’s your favorite ride?
