So on Monday I went to my first big Seattle event – Christian Louboutin’s shoe signing at the Flagship Nordstrom store. *fan girl squeal* There are some serious perks to living in the same city as the Nordy HQ. Mr. Louboutin himself was going to be doing a shoe signing while champagne and macaroons floated around the designer shoe section.
Before I even knew about this event, I was planning to buy myself the classic “So Kate” pumps as a Christmas present. When I discovered that the red soled shoe god would be in town, Christmas came early. If you follow me on Instagram you read my little spiel on why it was a really special day for me. But before I go all #GIRLBOSS on you– let’s get to the fun stuff.
Also disclaimer ** They didn’t allow anything other than phone cameras so… my DSLR had to fly out the window 🙁
I got to the event a little early to get fitted for my new shoes. Like I previously mentioned, I’ve always had my heart set on the ‘So Kate’ s. However, as soon as I tried on the ‘Iriza‘ s I knew I was sold. They look pretty similar to the ‘So Kate’ but are open on the side for a little extra comfort. I would note that when buying these shoes online, I totally recommend going in the store since each line sizes a little differently.
During the event I met some fabulous women (one had 34 pairs #goals) that made the experience all the more exciting. Before I get to the champagne and macaroons, let’s talk some serious business.
What do my Louboutins mean to me?
When I started college, I made myself a list of accomplishments that I hoped to achieve in my life. I’m not much of a feminist, but for one thing, I knew that I wanted to be powerful on my own and that in life I didn’t want to be a “nurse or a purse” (as my mom puts it). My first milestone on the list was getting a job at an amazing international company. I checked that off when I started working at Adobe.
My next big milestone was buying myself a pair of Louboutins. I think that they’re the classic woman power shoe. They exude presence and power. I wanted them as a reminder to myself to be strong and keep pushing forward in life. On Monday I also marked that one off. My list of milestones is constantly being updated.
If you don’t have a list like this… you should. It is SO EASY to get caught up in life. You might be doing your best but feel like you’re at the worst because you can objectively look at yourself. So do yourself a favor and make a list. Your milestones may be a small or as big as you want! But do something to remind yourself how great you are.
Back to the event…
