This article almost got renamed to the “all the brunch spots we ate at in April.” We’re not quite sure what happened but a lot of mimosas and eggs were tried this month. But never fear! We tried some of the newest spots on the block (and some oldies but goodies) so that you know where to go for happy hour, lunch, and dinner too! Keep reading for the San Diego restaurants we loved in April.
The Dream Donut Shop: The Goods Donuts
The Goods Donuts in Carlsbad has been all over our Instagram stories this month. They bake some of the best doughnuts in the San Diego area, and their aesthetic and interior design is totally Instagrammable.

Our Order: Key Lime Cronut
Pro Tip: Plan to visit in the morning (especially on weekends) as these sweet treats tend to disappear. I went once in the afternoon and 85% of the donuts were gone!
Most Instagrammable Happy Hour: Ciao Ciao Piadina
Ciao Ciao Piadina in La Jolla looks like it was plucked straight from Etsy or Pinterest. Every detail from the color palette to furniture is immaculately curated for an Instagrammable meal. Plus you can’t beat their affordable bites for happy hour.

Our Order: Argos Salad, The #7 flatbread sandwich, pink cannoli, white chocolate roll (a must), Pulcinella Spritz
Pro Tip: For the best deal, plan to visit during “Aperitivo Hour” which is 4-9PM daily. For $29 per person you get one drink and unlimited bites.
Perfect Eggs Benedict: La Clochette du Coin
If you know us you know we LOVE a good eggs benedict. It’s safe to say La Clochette du Coin has one of the best in San Diego, plus delicious lattes and mouth watering pastries.

Our Order: Salmon Benedict, Latte
Pro Tip: The eggs benedict is only offered a few days a week, so make sure to visit on the weekend to snag an order!
Trendiest New Brunch Spot: The Waverly
The Waverly has it all – delicious brunch plates, an extensive cocktail menu, picture worthy decor, and a low-key beach atmosphere. It’s the perfect for a weekend meal out with friends.

Our Order: Latte, creme brûlée french toast
Pro Tip: Make a reservation for brunch (it’s a total must as it gets quite crowded) and plan to go early!
New Bar & Restaurant on the Block: Flamingo Deck
We love Flamingo Deck for their Italian fare with a twist in a fun and funky environment. Owned by the same people as El Prez, you’ll be sure to love the fun vibes! If you’re craving pasta or pizza in the Mission Beach area, check them out.

Our Order: Marinated olives, wild mushroom pizza, “tres lonely boy” cocktail
Pro Tip: This is a spot that doesn’t take reservations and gets super crowded. Plan to arrive early (around happy hour) to avoid the lines.
Backyard Garden Vibes: The Presley
The Presley is a unique outdoor dining experience hidden away in Liberty Station. They offer classic American fare, an extensive cocktail menu, fire pits, and swinging benches.

- Hours: Wednesday 3PM – 10PM, Thursday – Friday 11AM – 10PM, Saturday – Sunday 10AM – 10PM.
Our Order: Dole Whip Mimosa, Lava Flow Cocktail, orange & ricotta pancakes, breakfast sando, steak & eggs benedict (a must)
Pro Tip: If you’re going in a group, order the champagne special which includes one bottle of champagne and two juices!
Secret Brunch with a View: Garibaldi
Garibaldi is a waterfront speakeasy hidden away in downtown San Diego. Their menu is eclectic to say the least, with options from fresh fish to “unconventional” dishes like boar sausage.

- Hours: Thursday 5:30PM – 11PM, Friday 5PM – 11PM, Saturday 4PM – 11PM, Sunday 11AM – 2PM and 4PM – 7PM.
Our Order: Sardinian Limoncello Crespelle, Garibaldi Riff cocktail, Ricotta toast Trio, Pork Loin breakfast bowl
Pro Tip: Visit on a Sunday so you can go for a walk on the waterfront and visit the farmer’s market afterwards.
