When I was scrolling through the depths of Pinterest, getting ready for my summer trip to Paris (you can find my board here), I came across a colorful street that made me do a double take. Was this Portobello Road in London? Nope. It was Rue Cremieux in the 12th Arrondisement. While I wouldn’t suggest it if it is your first time in Paris and if you have very limited time, for someone who has seen the major sites already, it is a breath of fresh air.
Location: Rue Cremieux, 75012 Paris, France (12th Arrondisement near the Bastille)
Tips for Visiting Rue Cremieux
1 ) Go early
Like every Instagram/ Photography worthy spot, if you don’t get there early, you’ll be dodging people and cameras. Head there early in the morning (~8/9 AM) to beat the crowds and have the whole street to yourself. We got there around 11 AM, and by the time we left, you could hardly walk do the street, let alone take a cute picture!
2 ) Not every house is fair game
What Instagram doesn’t tell you is a some of the houses have “no photo” or “be quiet” signs in their windows. Remember that at the end of the day, there are actual people that live there. It isn’t just a Disneyland type of attraction. That being said, there were still a lot of houses that didn’t have signs, so you can absolutely work around the no-go ones!
3 ) Bring more than one outfit!
There are so many different gorgeous houses on the street, that I totally regret not having brought more than one outfit!
