Greetings from the Big Apple! I’ve finally made it to the city that never sleeps. The name couldn’t be more fitting with a red eye straight into a full day of projects and errands. Even though we’re welcoming the spring season, New York seemed to have not gotten the memo.
This classic OOTD is the first of my NYFW Capsule Closet (more on that later) and I’m calling it “cozy chic.” The whole look supports the star of the show – the pink pom pom beanie designed and created by local brand Indie Fiber Art. You can visit their Instagram here and Etsy page here. I wore this look while shooting in Brooklyn. I fell in love with this white British inspired home.
what is cozy chic style?
Cozy chic style is basically oversized comfortable pieces made chic with select accessories. It’s extremely practical for winter when all you want to do is curl up in a ball. I also think it will be popping up in this season’s shows (as we saw the last couple of seasons) because it can be carried on into spring and summer with t-shirts, coats, and hats.
how to wear it
The how is what’s important in the styling because this can go wrong SO fast.
- Focus the cozy on one area: If you’re going to wear an oversized sweater like the one I’m wearing from the Zara sale (under $25), then the bottom needs to be fitted. Whether you choose to go with tights if the top is long enough, or skinny jeans, or leggings, it’s important that it gives you a shape.
- Pick you accessories wisely: I chose to go with Fendi sunglasses, a dressy vintage crossbody, leather gloves, and striped socks. Oh, and most importantly the pop of pink. These details are what elevates the look from “I woke up like this” to “I’m casually glamorous.”
where to wear it
- Fashion Week Presentations: While I would consider this look a little too casual for an actual fashion show (you could make it work with the right heel and coat), it’s perfect for a Fashion Presentation that you can quickly pop in and out of.
- Tourist Attractions: This looks is so versatile – it could work for travel and for touristing (especially in a city like NYC where there is a lot of walking).
- General winter look: Lastly, it’s honestly just a great winter look. You can wear it really anywhere and pull it off with some minor changes.
