Every time I visit New York, I just crave returning for more. The hustle and bustle, the lights, the foods, and of course Central Park. I’ll be honest and say that I definitely won’t be missing the traffic, the smells, and the humidity. For my day as a ‘New Yorker’ I decided to live it á la Blair Waldorf with coffee from Dean & Deluca, a walk through Central Park, and tea at the Plaza Hotel. Keep reading for how to spend one day in NYC.
Let’s talk D&D first. Not only is it a sleek NYC coffee joint, but it got shout outs in the Devil Wears Prada and Gossip Girl (so you know it must be legit). It was all marble everythang. And there’s a je ne sais quoi about walking through Central Park, finding a bench and people watching while sipping on that cappuccino that is so very satisfying.
When some people go on trips, they collect postcards. I like to collect the high tea experience. In every major city, I make it a point to go for high tea (see Hong Kong ). I love the pomp and circumstance, the ambiance, and in many cases– the history. The Plaza Hotel is a NYC staple and I just l-o-v-e-d sitting in Palm Court to snack on scones and sip on tea.
Now for what you were all waiting for: the look details. New York City in the summer is a struggle because it’s 90 degrees outside, but the second you walk inside you’re in an ice cube. I wanted something that said “summer” while still keeping me cozy. As the dress code for tea was “smart casual” I went with a white knit blouse, dark wash skinnies, and loafers. I found this white knit during the Zara sale and it was a steal. The loafers I found in a boutique in Buenos Aires, are the perfect item to dress up a casual look. As for the bag, you’ve probably figured out that Louis is my favorite travel partner. He’s one of the only bags that fits my camera!
