From the outside looking in, downtown San Jose may look like a concrete jungle of office space. However, tucked away among the different streets are some tasty lunch spots. In town only for the day? Working in the area? Just hungry? Keep reading for the 5 Best Lunch Spots in Downtown San Jose.
1. SuperGood Kitchen
- Address: 62 E Santa Clara St., San Jose, CA 95113
- Lunch Hours: Monday – Friday 11 AM – 2PM
- Cuisine Type: Asian
SuperGood Kitchen is hard to describe. Chef Winson says the concept isn’t fusion- the food food aims to be as authentic as possible to its region (with a few twists and turns). Think: Afghan style dumplings, wok fired collard greens, and pork jau.
I recommend going with an empty stomach and getting a variety of shareable plates to sample all the savory items on the menu.
Fun fact: they are attached to Mini Boss, a bar/arcade with vintage style games.
2. Ozu Ramen
- Address: 86 S 1st St, San Jose, CA 95113
- Lunch Hours: Monday – Friday 11:30 AM – 3 PM
- Cuisine Type: Ramen
Ozu Ramen feels like it was picked up in Kyoto and dropped off in the middle of California. Stop by for a savory bowl of ramen on a cold day.
3. Olla Cocina
- Address: 17 North San Pedro St., San Jose, CA 95110
- Lunch Hours: Monday – Saturday, 11:30AM – 4PM
- Cuisine Type: Mexican
Feeling a little more trendy? Olla Cocina, located near San Pedro Square bring all the chic modern Mexican vibes. Their menu features a variety of small plates and larger dishes for those on the hungrier side. My personal favorites include the al pastor tacos, the chips & guacamole, and the empanadas.
For my fellow Instagrammers, the restaurant also features egg chairs and a gorgeous aesthetic!
4. Cafe Eden
- Address: 2 N 1st St Suite 150, San Jose, CA 95113
- Hours: Monday – Saturday 10 AM – 9 PM
- Cuisine Type: Middle Eastern / Mediterranean
Next up on our list of the best downtown San Jose lunch spots: Cafe Eden. Talk about amazing Middle Eastern food! Cafe Eden may be my favorite restaurant ( but I hate to play favorites). Their chicken shawarma dish is one of the most amazing I’ve ever had. Be sure to ask for extra garlic sauce! Service is also great and portion sizes are quite reasonable.
5.Good Karma Artisan Ales & Café
- Address: 37 S 1st St., San Jose, CA 95113
- Hours: 11 AM – 10 PM
- Cuisine Type: Vegan
This British-inspired pub meets hippy vegan spot is quite the melange. Good Karma has vegan food for the non-vegans. What do I mean? The food was so well-made that anyone would love it! They also have a wide variety of ales for the beer lovers out there. I recommend ordering the tacos and the drumsticks.
