I hope you had a fabulous Christmas/Hanukkah, I know I did. I am now en route to Mexico City, but before I disappear for the next few days, I wanted to share my Los Angeles Diary with you from my day trip last week.
Trips to L.A. are something I really miss about California. While I hate the traffic and the 1.5-3 hour drive from San Diego, there’s something about the city that always makes me feel trendy and chic. My friend Allie and I have started a yearly tradition of LA trips (you can see our last post here ).
BRUNCH
We started with brunch at République which we both agreed we would definetly come back to. They have a case of awesome baked goods (we tried the fruit tart and the creme brulee bomboloni) as well as unique brunch items. We tried “This Morning’s Bread” and “Ricotta Toast.”
I think the decor is definetly unique, it’s this industrial- chateau- church vibe with communal seating after you go up and order at the counter. It’s all the happiness of brunch without having to wait for a server to take your order.
THE WALLS ON MELROSE
The ‘Paul Smith Limited’ or ‘Pink Wall’ has been named one of L.A.’s locations that has been Instagrammed to death. You can find the all at 8221 Melrose Avenue, West Hollywood. I wouldn’t drive all the way to Melrose just for the wall, but the shops on Melrose are unique to the area, and it’s worth a walk to see the designer consignment shops, and other trendy boutiques.
We stumbled across the “Hello” wall on accident, as it is located right across the street from the Paul Smith wall. I wish it hadn’t been so sunny because it would have made a really cute backdrop. Still great art none the less!
The ‘Angel Wings Project’ Wall is a global project all over the world. This one you can find on St. Regis Wine & Liquor, 8401 West 3rd Street, Los Angeles.
TEA
After doing some window shopping on Melrose and checking out all the murals on our list, we stopped for tea at the Alfred Team Room. It’s off of Melrose Place and is a great little spot to decompress after a busy day. There are so many teas that I can’t remember what exactly I ordered, but still good. It’s definetly worth a stop because you can check out the shops on Melrose Place (there’s a Book Marc – Marc Jacob’s book store).
We wanted to skip traffic coming back, so we then hopped in the car and stopped for food in Long Beach on our way home. I can successfully say, that for another year I’ve had my L.A. fill. I’ll be posting an LA Look post sometime soon! I’ll be in Mexico City for the week and won’t have my laptop. So if you’re interested in some sneak previews, you can follow along on Instagram!
Thanks for reading my Los Angeles Diary!
