As I sit here writing this, I really wonder if I should be bearing local secrets. But y’all know I love my G Wagon (the nickname for the P&P followers if you’re new here) and have to tell you what’s up. A few of these spots are hidden in plain view and others are more off the beaten path. Added bonus: all of these are pretty Instagrammable! Keep reading for 4 La Jolla Hidden Gems I absolutely love.
La Jolla Hidden Gem #1: False Point
- Location: Sea Ridge Dr & Linda Way San Diego, CA 92037
- Pro Tip: Check the tides to make sure it’s not high tide!
Nestled in the cozy neighborhood of Bird Rock, this is truly a locals’ spot. I love coming here on a gloomy day with a coffee and pastry to watch the surfers and enjoy the crashing waves. If you’re feeling a little more adventurous, head down the stairs and walk along the rocks.
La Jolla Hidden Gems #2: Belvedere Street
- Location: Belvedere Street, La Jolla, CA 92037
If you’re looking for that quintessential Southern California vibe, Belvedere Street (located near Windansea Beach) is it. The palm tree lined street screams California! It’s also a pretty quiet street which makes it ideal for photos!
La Jolla Hidden Gem #3: Green Gazebo @ The Tide Pools
- Location: near the La Jolla Tidepools where Coast Blvd. and Coast Blvd. South fork
While La Jolla Cove is filled with cute beachside gazebos, my personal favorite is this green one with the surfboard awning. I actually love this spot for a little picnic moment! The downside is there’s often people sitting there, so you just have to get lucky (or get there really early).
La Jolla Hidden Gem #4: Torrey Pines Gliderport
- Location: 2800 Torrey Pines Scenic Dr, La Jolla, CA 92037
This spot a new addition to my list. It’s crazy to think that I was born and raised in the area and just discovered the Gliderport mid-pandemic. The best time to visit is on a sunny summer day where you can catch paragliders sailing through the sky. It is seriously magical. It’s also a solid picnic spot if you’re looking for something a little more quiet.
