The neighborhood of South Park in San Diego has seen quite a few changes over the years. I used to visit purely for the hot chocolate at Eclipse (it’s gourmet and they have these homemade marshmallows). Little did I know, so many unique businesses would move in. The below guide features a few of my favorite businesses in the neighborhood that also happen to be pretty Instagrammable!
#1: Cafe Madeleine
Remember when everyone was obsessed with the Netflix show Emily in Paris? Cafe Madeleine honestly feels like it was plucked out of Paris and dropped in South Park. Stop by for a French pastry or better yet, one of their popular crepes.
- Location: 2248 30th St, San Diego, CA 92104
#2: Communal Coffee & Shop
You may recognize the name Communal Coffee if you’ve been to their University Ave. location. This little outdoor coffee truck and seating area is perfect for social distancing and catching up with a friend! Even better? They recently opened the cutest little shop that features everything from home decor items to succulents.
- Location: 2221 Fern St, San Diego, CA 92104
#3: Matteo
This fun and bright mural is located outside of popular San Diego restaurant Buona Forchetta‘s non-profit restaurant Matteo. 100% of their proceeds benefiti regularly rotating, community-based charities and causes.
- Location: 3015 Juniper St, San Diego, CA 92104
#4: Native Poppy
Native Poppy is the neighborhood flower shop you never knew you needed. Stop in for a fresh bouquet or to pick up some unique home decor. Pro Tip: They also have a flower subscription so that the flower fun never ends!
- Location: 3009 Grape Street, San Diego, CA 92102
#5: Curryosity
I love a pun (if you didn’t know that already). With Curryosity, think comforting Indian food that you know and love with an elevated and aesthetic spin. Their outdoor patio is also perfect for a photo op!
