Growing up, I spent weekends in the neighborhood of Little Italy San Diego. Back then, it was full of immigrant owned hole-in-the wall Italian restaurants. While it wasn’t instagrammable, it was totally delicious. Over the years, the neighborhood become super trendy! Keep reading for a few of my favorite instagrammable spots in the neighborhood.
Instagrammable Little Italy 1#: James Coffee
James Coffee in Little Italy is one of my favorite places to stop for a morning coffee. They roast and sell their own coffee beans, and even offer latte art classes for the general public.
- Location: 2235 India St., San Diego, CA
- Pro Tip: Order the almond croissant, you’ll thank me later!
Instagrammable Little Italy 2#: Devil’s Dozen
Hands down the trendiest donut shop in San Diego is Devil’s Dozen. In addition to a full menu of classic to unique flavors like guava cream cheese, their interior decor and wall murals are worth the stop for a photoshoot.
- Location: 2001 Kettner Boulevard, San Diego, CA
- Pro Tip: After you pick up your donut, go left and head up the stairs to find this hidden gem.
Instagrammable Little Italy 3#: Harbor Breakfast
Come to Harbor Breakfast for the casual comfort food, stay for the gorgeous blue exterior! If you visit just for photos, then I suggest coming after 2pm when the restaurant is closed to avoid customers coming in and out.
- Location: 1502 India St, San Diego, CA
Instagrammable Little Italy 4#: Morning Glory
Morning Glory is also known as a “millennial wonderland” due to its fabulous interior design and trendy menu offerings. Every detail down to their plates is totally Instagrammable!
- Location: 550 W Date St, San Diego, CA
- Pro Tip: Go during the week to avoid the crowds.
Instagrammable Little Italy San Diego 5#: Historic Homes
Many of the original homes built by Italian immigrants in the 1920’s can still be visited if you walk around the neighborhood. One of my favorites is on India Street. I especially love their architectural nods to Italy, bright colors, and gilded details.
- Location: Mainly along India Street
Instagrammable Little Italy San Diego 6#: Downtown Parking Structures
Because of the neighborhood’s proximity to the airport, you can find many parking garages in Little Italy that offer striking views of planes taking off and landing. Find a parking garage with a clear view and just wait for planes to fly by for epic shots like this!
Instagrammable Little Italy San Diego 7#: Firehouse Museum
The San Diego Firehouse Museum is in the former San Diego Fire Station No. 6 and has maintained its vintage firehouse charm. If you love a pop of red on your Instagram feed, the firehouse doors are a great stop for a photoshoot.
- Location: 1572 Columbia St, San Diego, CA
