Today we’re going to talk about one of my favorite aspects of fall – fall leaves.
When it comes to my fall bucket list it usually consists of 3 things:
- Visiting a pumpkin patch (you can see my post here)
- Jumping into fall leaves/ photos with them (this post)
- Picking apples (coming soon)
It’s on my yearly agenda, and fall isn’t fall without it. Living in California, finding fall leaves can be tough. I was absolutely excited to be back in Seattle for my dose of fall leaves. I noticed that this year there is a trend on Instagram – the leaves aren’t just thrown up in the air, they’re closer to the photographer. So this year I changed it up to try and get the photo you see below:
Fun fact: Trying to re-create this yourself? You’ll need 1-2 people to help you. There’s the photographer (shooting in burst mode) and the leaf thrower. The leaf thrower should stand on an angle near the photographer to throw the leaves in front. Want more leaves? Also throw some up yourself for double the trouble.
FALL LEAVES PHOTO IDEAS & OUTFITS
1 ) Grab a coffee & find a leaf-filled neighborhood
Nothing says fall like a coffee cup & a cute neighborhood. I also always make sure to dress the part for fall too – it was quite a warm day but I pulled in a mustard sweater and boots to complete the outfit.
2) Jump in a pile of leaves
Find a street covered in leaves like the one above, start pulling them together until you have a big pile (ideally in the grass and not on the cement) and then jump! This is one of those shots that I recommend you have someone throwing leaves in your direction to add to the action shot.
3 ) Be basic & throw the leaves up in the air
I actually loved this shot because of how “fall” it felt with the leaves so close to the camera. You can re-create it using the tip I left towards the top.
