When I think of “Christmas,” the beachside city of San Diego isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. However, that doesn’t mean that a California Christmas can’t be charming. Below I’m sharing 4 magical spots for celebrating Christmas in San Diego. From outdoor ice skating, to cozy movies along the beach, below are a few of my favorite spots!
Christmas in San Diego #1: Liberty Station
Liberty Station is popping with trendy boutiques and restaurants. This spot is not only perfect for date night and enjoying the holiday lights, but there are quite a few activities (that are social distancing friendly) happening this season.
Crafts & Cocoa at THE LOT – Coming up on 11/24, this family friendly activity is one of a weeks’ long amount of events. Sign up for their email blasts to be up to date on all their upcoming events and deals.
Art Installations – Modeled after the 12 days of Christmas, this art walk is spread throughout Liberty Station. It will run from November 26 to January 10.
Movie under the Starts at The LOT – Last up we have the perfect social distancing activity! The LOT is hosting various movie under the stars events in the coming months. PS: each ticket comes with a blanket so you can get extra cozy.
Christmas in San Diego #2: Hotel del Coronado
Is it even the holidays in San Diego if you’re not visiting the Hotel Del for their Polar Bear tea or ice skating on the beach? While unfortunately, this year, both of those signature events have been canceled, there are still some cozy happenings occurring.
Jingle Roast Private Bonfire – Grab your squad and have a California Winter along the beach while enjoying s’mores.
Photos with Santa – Santa will be available for photos on certain days and by reservation only.
Holiday Movies at the Beach – Throughout December you can watch some Holiday movie classics at the Hotel. Pro Tip: The VIP Family Movie Package seems like the perfect double date night. Boys – take notes!
Christmas in San Diego #3: Little Italy
If you only visit Little Italy once this holiday season, there are two things you absolutely must do.
Pick up a panettone at Mona Lisa. Panettones are traditional Italian holiday bread that make for great gifts. Every Italian also has at least one at home at all times during the holiday season. Mona Lisa imports them straight from Italy. Opt for the Fiasconaro brand.
Visit the Holiday Market – Occurring every Wednesday from 10 AM – 2PM, this little market has everything from local artisan wares, to food and crafts.
Westfield UTC
I have fond memories from growing up and doing all my Christmas shopping at UTC. While over the years they may have gotten a major facelift, something about this spot screams ~holidays.~ I particularly love the Anthropologie window and the big tree at the entrance. A few other events happening –
Check out the Snowglobe Collection – Think life-size snow globes throught the center with live festive scenes. It’s unique and you can check it out the first 3 weeks of December from 4-8 PM every Wednesday through Friday.
Take photos with Santa & The Grinch – And of course the classic photos with Santa and the Grinch!
