New York City to me is really a walking photo backdrop. For the most part, around every corner is a photogenic brownstone, a picturesque crosswalk, and not to mention all the iconic monuments. Even though I’ve visited the big apple 4-5 times, I always feel like there’s something new to discover on every trip. Today I’m sharing 15 Most Instagrammable Places in NYC. These are some of my favorite locations that I’ve amassed over the years.
15 Most Instagrammable Places in NYC
Instagrammable Places in NYC #1: Flour Shop
The Flour Shop is a mashup of every Instagram/pop-culture trend in a space. Bright colors? Check. White furniture? Check. Grab a small bite and snap some pics. It is also featured in Karya Schanilec’s Blog post on the most Instagrammable spots in Soho (which I suggest you go read next).
Location: 177 Lafayette St, New York, NY 10013
Instagrammable Places in NYC #2: New York Transit Museum
Have you heard of the New York Transit Museum? I didn’t either until recently. This is your answer to the question – how does every influencer get a shot in an *empty* subway? They visit the Transit Museum. Visit the museum in Brooklyn for some great shots (they have non-functioning subway cars) and a look at the history behind NYC’s transit.

Instagrammable Places in NYC #3: The MET (Metropolitan Museum of Art)
Remember all those iconic moments from Gossip Girl with Blair and Serena on the MET steps? Well, not only is the exterior fabulous, but the interior is as well. The MET (Metropolitan Museum of Art) is also a great tourist attraction on a cold or rainy day.

Instagrammable Places in NYC #4: Washington Square Park
Washington Square Park reminds me of my days in Paris with its mini Arc de Triomphe. Looking to visit? Check out my blog post here for a morning itinerary & the best time to visit for photos.
Instagrammable Spots in NYC #5: DUMBO
DUMBO has been on my photo list FOREVER. And when I went my friend & photographer Karya Schanilec had this fun idea to shoot the book Dumbo in DUMBO. I may write a whole blog post on the area at some point, but in the meantime… go early. Grab breakfast in the area after and make a morning of it!
Location: Washington Street in Brooklyn
Instagrammable Spots in NYC #6: Brooklyn Bridge
Grab your camera, bundle up and check out the Brooklyn Bridge. We arrived early around 8 AM and it was already getting crowded in the dead of winter! While it might be overdone of a location, I still love it!
Instagrammable Spots in NYC #7: Flatiron Building
Fun fact, I’ve attempted shooting at the Flatiron before (and the photos weren’t great). Mainly it was because I wasn’t prepared for the variety of angles, and all the action going on around the building. Before going, I’d spend some time researching what other people have done in the past for ideas since it can be overwhelming once you get there!
Location: 175 5th Ave, New York, NY 10010
Instagrammable Spots in NYC #8: Pietro Nolita

Adding Pietro Nolita because can you even have an NYC IG Guide without it? It feels like someone vomited pink all over the exterior, which I guess is what the kids are into these days. It is fun and bright, and located down the street from another pink iconic location Cha Cha Matcha. Also, while I haven’t eaten at the restaurant, I have heard the food is pretty good!
Location: 174 Elizabeth St, New York, NY 10012
Instagrammable Spots in NYC #9: Top of the Rock
Top of the Rock is one of those tourist attractions that isn’t a trap. 100% worth it. You can read all about my experience and tips for visiting here.
Instagrammable Spots in NYC #10: Eat by Chloe
I have a love-hate relationship with Eat by Chloe. They have 8 locations throughout the city, and are a vegan restaurant. It’s adorable, and actually has a reasonable-sized menu. The “hate” part of this is that they don’t make lattes or any other coffee drinks other than drip. Which in the morning, you know I have opinions about.
Locations: Find the different areas here.
Instagrammable Spots in NYC #11: The High Line
What is the High Line? That was my question when I first heard about this spot. Basically it’s a 1.5 mile elevated park in the middle of the city. I’d almost call it a concrete jungle park. The idea is pretty cool and it makes for a nice walk while you find a few of their photogenic spots.
Location: Visit their site for the different entrances.
Instagrammable Spots in NYC #12: Butcher’s Daughter
When it comes to the Instagrammable Restaurant category, I’ve come to the realization that you’re basically paying for the photo you’re going to take. Butcher’s Daughter is no exception. While the food is pretty good, it is pricey.
Locations: They have a couple locations in the city which you can find here.
Instagrammable Spots in NYC #13: Penn Station
I stumbled upon Penn Station while on the hunt for Shake Shack (fun fact: there IS a Shake Shack underneath the station in a tunnel of shops and restaurants). The steps of the station make for a great photo and are a popular hang out for pigeons if you want them in your shot.
Instagrammable Spots in NYC #14: The Flats BKSpeed Coffee
The Flats BKSpeed Coffee in Williamsburg has a mural that speaks to my heart! If you’re a coffee lover this spot is for you.
Location: 308 Hooper St, Brooklyn, NY 11211
Instagrammable Spots in NYC #15: Columbus Circle
Last up is Columbus Circle. Located across the street from Central Park (which on my next visit to NYC will have a whole post dedicated to it) is the perfect spot to get your city-taxi shot. This photo was taken from the Time Warner Center from their restaurant/bar on the top floor.
