The 4th of July is coming up tomorrow, and if you’re like me, the idea of shopping an entirely new outfit just for one day is not ideal. This year, I wanted to go with something a little more sophisticated and vintage. I also wanted to go with something that I could repurpose throughout the rest of summer.
Below are 3 tips for throwing together a last minute effortless look:
1 ) Shop your closet: pull out all your options
I started by pulling all my red white and blue options out. Anything that could even potentially work for the 4th of July was an option. That included everything from small accessories to my winter sweaters. This gives you a visual of what options you have to choose from. I even found quite a few items (like the shoes I’m wearing) that I had forgotten about.
2 ) Don’t be afraid to mix in items from different seasons
Fun fact: the red sweater in this photo is actually a winter item, but works well for an over the shoulder or around the waist situation. It is also ideal if you consider that it can get pretty cold once fireworks time hits. Just because it is from a different season, doesn’t mean that it won’t work in some capacity.
3 ) Figure out what theme you’re going for
Even though we’re all confined to a red, white, and blue color palette, the 4th of July gives you a lot of wiggle room in terms of the actual style or theme of your outfit. Think:
- Super patriotic
- High fashion
- Vintage
- Grunge

Have a safe & Happy 4th of July!
