It has been a hot second since I last did a purely “style” post. I honestly thought that no one was interested in what I had to say about fashion… but Instagram proved me wrong. You all overwhelmingly wanted me to talk style, so here we are. We’re going to be talking spring trends.
To be honest, I hadn’t been feeling very inspired by spring this year. Maybe it’s because I’ve been missing all the Spring vibes from Seattle – cherry blossom trees and tulip fields really bring the spring feels. The Bay Area just looked like the same old same old. When I saw on Instagram that the roses in the San Jose Municipal Rose Garden were blooming, one of my blogger babes, Nessa Carreira and I got dressed for spring and hit the garden.
5 Favorite Spring Trends 2018
1 ] TINY STATEMENT BAGS
Remember when huge totes were all the rage? Well, say hello to the mini statement bag.
Why do I love them for spring? Well Spring to me says chic, dainty, and unique. This bag from MMS Design that I wore to Coachella fit that bill. I love the classic square shape and chain. But the “fun” part is the sparkles that move around the bag. It might not be ideal if you have a lot to carry, or don’t want everyone looking to see what’s in your bag, but for coffee or lunch date it’s perfect.
Style Tip: I try to keep my spending on statement bags under $50. They’re not bags that you’re going to wear on a daily basis, and it’s fun to have a variety of them. I tend to pair them with something simple to dress up the outfit.

2 ] TWO PIECE SETS
Two piece sets are the ultimate lazy glam girl piece. I am loving Nessa’s Forever21 set (we couldn’t find the exact one, but I’ll be linking similar ones down below). It’s great for transitioning from Spring to Summer.
Why do I love them for spring? I’m someone that hates spending time figuring out what to wear. I’m also the person that pulls everything out of the closet creating a whirlwind before I pick something. A two piece set is the perfect solution. All you have to do is accessorize and you’re set to go! And since it comes in every variation (skirt top, pant top, etc.) you can stock your closet with multiples.
Style Tip: To get more bang for your buck, when you pick your set, make sure that both pieces look good alone. When you travel, being able to mix and match sets can help you save on closet space. I love that Nessa accessorized with all white, but you could even throw on a hat to glam it up further.

3 ] FLOWY & PASTEL DRESSES
I kid you not I’ve been going ham with ordering pastels and dresses lately. #SorryNotSorry But seriously, they’re so great for Spring and Summer. They come in all sorts of prints, colors, and styles. I personally wish the one I was wearing was a little longer (since short really isn’t my thing), but it works. Also, I’m just going to point out that I’m not mad that the roses and I were matching.
Why do I love them for spring? This might be a trend, but it’s quick & easy, and makes a nice statement. I like to focus on accessories, so keeping my clothing simple is the way to go. Also, pastels just scream spring, so you can’t go wrong.
Style Tip: I’ve been feeling these flowy & button down dresses specifically. Just be careful of length and of the material – you don’t want something see through!

4 ] STATEMENT EARRINGS
If you’re eye rolling right now thinking, “statement earrings are ALWAYS in style,” it’s true. But I do think that Spring (and Summer) statement earrings are a little more fun than the fall/winter ones. Say hello to bright and light colors!
Why do I love them for spring? They can be a fun pop of color to an otherwise simple outfit. I also find that they just automatically elevate a look and are flattering on everyone!
Style Tip: To get more bang for your buck, when you pick your set, make sure that both pieces look good alone. When you travel, being able to mix and match sets can help you save on closet space. I love that Nessa accessorized with all white, but you could even throw on a hat to glam it up further.

5] MULES
Mules have been in style for over a year now. And I have no shame about having them in almost every color.
Why do I love them for spring? They’re the perfect “I don’t have my nails done” shoe. I also find that they’re a little more dressy than a sandal. AND if that doesn’t convince you, you can wear then from work to play.
Style tip? When you have on something that is on the shorter side (like my dress), a closed toe shoe is a little more conservative than a sandal. While I’ve been wanting to splurge on some Gucci mules, I’ve found some really great low-cost options that look just as nice! The ones I’m wearing are from Target and you can shop them below.
