The first time I went to Bainbridge Island in August, it reminded me of the beachside communities one often sees in Southern California. While I wouldn’t put it on the “Must See” list for Seattle if you’re pressed for time, it’s a great way to spend a leisurely day if you’re in town for a bit.
When one of my best friend’s was in town last weekend, we took the 40 minute ferry ride from the Seattle Ferry Terminal to the island. It’s a great tourist attraction not only because of the ferry which has beautiful views, but you don’t need a car once you arrive on Bainbridge Island. It’s literally a 10ish minute walk to the downtown.
Last time I was in town, I discovered the BEST bakery/ coffee shop, BlackBird Bakery. I was obsessed with their scones and coffee. But when we got off the ferry we were absolutely starving, so we went for something a little more on the breakfast side with crepes at Bainbridge Crepes.
Afterwards, we stopped at Blackbird for our morning coffee and sweet treat. While the inside of the bakery is cute, I love the outdoor seating. It’s a great opportunity to people watch and enjoy the fresh air.
We walked on the main street, popping into adorable locally owned shops before making our way to the water front. There’s a small path that takes you along the water with views of the boats. It’s so peaceful!
The waterfront was a great spot to shoot my OOTD. I always have a hard time deciding what to wear for touristing. I want to be fashionable, but I know that things like heels won’t cut it for hours of walking. So I want to be comfortable.
