Welcome to my home decor series, where my fiancé and I slowly create our dream space. As soon as we got the keys to our new place, I knew I had to start with my own little nook (the office). What started as a modern and minimalist plan quickly evolved into what I’ve come to call the “eclectic Mediterranean meets Matisse” style. The art, the colors, and the overall vibe are a nod to two of my major roots – the Mediterranean for my Italian background and Matisse (whose art was a pillar of the Nice, France community where I spent many years of my childhood). Home Office Inspiration: Starting with the Vision Board
Every room in our home has its own vision board on Canva. With the pro account, you can easily remove backgrounds from images (a must in my opinion), which makes it easy to figure out how each piece will work in the space. I did a lot of copying, pasting, and swapping during this process until I settled on pieces I really loved. In this space, everything started on the rug – it was the original piece that pivoted my entire room inspiration.
Tip: this tool is particularly helpful for testing out how different pieces of art will look together.
